6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

The Community Chest will host its First Annual Food Fest at the Englewood Field Club.   The festival will include an eclectic selection of cuisines and a variety of popular spirits.  The Fall Fest celebrates the diversity of our community.

The evening’s program will raise awareness and funds to increase program support for young people.   A special performance by children that benefit from our funding will be a heartwarming feature of the evening as will recognition of a very special advocate for youth in our community.   It promises to be a fun and celebratory evening with delicious food, small batch and craft liquors and old and new friends. Come join us for a very special night.

A consortium of agencies and volunteers have been creating healthy dinners at local churches in Englewood.  Attendance is by invitation through local food banks and host churches.  The idea is to promote healthy eating in order to decrease the incidence of diabetes and obesity in the local population.

The Community Chest, Englewood Health, The Office of Concern, Center for Food Action and the Department of Health formed this partnership and have engaged many volunteers.  People from the community have gotten involved to help create these meals.  The volunteers have developed a wonderful camaraderie with each other and with the guests who attend.  TD Bank generously granted $5,000 to fund the initiative in addition to sending volunteers.  Lakeland Bank , M&T and Investors have all sent  volunteers to assist at one of the dinners.

Participation by community members, clients of food banks and members of church communities, has increased significantly since the inception of the  program nine months ago.  Attendance by these families and individuals is so  important in promoting a change in eating habits, which in turn will lead to better health.

We are in the planning stages for dinners beginning in the Fall.  If you are interested in volunteering or would like to help by contributing, please contact us.

TD Banks Grants $5,000 to Support Healthy Eating

TD Bank is supporting our efforts to combat the rising trends in obesity and diabetes at risk populations of primarily hispanic and african american community members. Participants from food banks and church congregations are attending dinners where nutritious meals are explained, prepared and served. Attendees receive ingredients to take home so that they may replicate the meal. Our goal is to change eating habits and raise awareness of the value of healthy eating. The Community Chest thanks TD Bank for their generous support.
