On Wednesday, June 21, 2023, Community Chest Vice President Emily Chang’s husband, Roger, and his friend, Peter Reiss, took on the challenge of playing as many holes of golf as possible at Manhattan Woods Golf Course in West Nyack, NY. With a total length of 6767 yards and a rating of 73.7/147 from the Gold Tees, this was no small feat.
Their previous record stood at 180 holes (equivalent to 10 rounds), which they achieved eight years ago. This year, they set their sights higher; aiming to complete 200 holes (11 rounds plus 2 holes)!
We are so grateful that Peter and Roger have graciously decided to raise funds for The Community Chest of Eastern Bergen County's Young Women's Leadership Program (YWLP). In fact, when Roger proposed supporting the YWLP, Emily went from rolling her eyes at the idea of playing 200 holes in one day to fully embracing the idea of reviving the Golf-a-thon.
Roger and Peter completed 201 holes of golf, beginning at 4:55 am and ending at 8:50 pm; 11 complete rounds plus 3 holes. CONGRATULATIONS to Roger and Peter. They raised over $11,000.
The Young Women's Leadership Program awards exceptional high school senior and junior women leaders and supports them in their future education. Winners demonstrate a passion for leadership, compassion, innovation, and the courage of their convictions in their community. Aside from the annual awards, the YWLP conducts workshops for high school students of all genders on crucial topics such as college preparedness, financial literacy and planning, and leadership development. The YWLP seeks to make a significant impact in our community by recognizing and nurturing the leaders of tomorrow.
We thank Roger and Peter for a job well done and for supporting The Community Chest’s Young Women’s Leadership Program.
