The Community Chest Supports Local Nonprofits During Coronavirus Pandemic

In the spring of 2020, The Community Chest created the Corona Virus Emergency Fund to help nonprofit organizations meet increased demand for services as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Through the generosity of donors, we raised over $50,000 and awarded grants to 13 agencies to help support their urgent work during the pandemic.

“We are very grateful to receive this generous grant earmarked for Center for Food Action’s COVID-19 emergency food relief efforts. The money will be used to help families and individuals financially impacted by the pandemic put food on their tables during this difficult time.” – Patricia Espy , Executive Director, Center for Food Action

"On behalf of our board, staff, and especially our families, thank you for your most generous award.  We are exceedingly grateful for The Community Chest, especially during this time of great distress.  As a result of the Coronavirus Emergency Fund award, West Side will be able to: distribute children's activity packets; distribute diapers, diaper cream, formula, and baby wipes; distribute breakfast and lunch packets for each family; continue working with our 'virtual buddies' and provide needed materials; continue daily counseling with our families;  and distribute essentials to families," said Darlene Serrano, Executive Director, West Side Infant and Teen Program

We are very grateful for the goodwill that enabled us to award these grants. Thank you to all of our generous donors that made this work possible.
